The Edinburgh M90 was closed southbound due to an emergency incident on Friday afternoon. Emergency services raced to the major road near to Queensferry Crossing.
It’s understood the incident took place around 2.47pm on the M90 J1A. Pictures picked up on traffic cameras show the Scottish Fire and Rescue in attendance.
The exact nature of the incident has not been confirmed but it’s understood to be in relation to a vehicle fire.
Footage seen by Edinburgh Live shows plumes of smoke as fire crews tackle a blaze. One vehicle was left burnt out at the side of the road.
Drivers have been urged to expect delays and use an alternative route.
A statement from Traffic Scotland reads: “The M90 is CLOSED SOUTHBOUND due to an ongoing police incident.
“Drivers are advised to expect delays to their journey and use an alternative route if possible.”
Scottish Fire and Rescue and Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
