A premises in Edinburgh city centre has reportedly been sealed off after fire crews were alerted to an incident. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service raced to George Street just before 7pm on Saturday, February 21.
Two appliances were dispatched by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. An eyewitness told Edinburgh Live a cordon was being erected outside a shop near the Assembly Rooms.
Firefighters were said to be responding to reports of a carbon monoxide alarm activating inside.

An eyewitness who saw the scene unfolding told Edinburgh Live: “I was heading down George Street in a taxi, and saw firefighters putting a cordon up outside a store and directing people around it.
“It’s just not what you expect to see on a Saturday night at this time. I hope everyone is okay.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We received the initial call at 6.47pm in response to a carbon monoxide alarm going off, and dispatched two pumps.
“Crews have now left the scene and Scottish Gas are in attendance.”
