On the fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion, the British government announced a new package of military and humanitarian support for Ukraine, and also confirmed the launch of a multinational force headquarters.
London emphasized that they remain close to Ukraine and will continue to support it as long as necessary.
“On this sad anniversary, our message to the Ukrainian people is simple: the United Kingdom is with you, stronger than ever. That is why today we are announcing new support and we will continue to support Ukraine for as long as necessary,” the government said.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer will chair a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing on 24 February. Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper will visit Kyiv, and Defence Secretary John Healy will join the events in London with Ukrainian representatives.
The aid package includes:
-
£20 million in emergency energy support to protect and repair the grid and increase generation following Russian attacks this winter;
-
£5.7 million in humanitarian assistance for frontline communities, people in need of evacuation and internally displaced persons;
-
medical consulting from Ukrainian specialists. British military surgeons, nurses and physiotherapists will work together with Ukrainian doctors and share experience in combat traumatology;
-
training of Ukrainian helicopter pilots at a British air base. Graduates will become instructors and train a new generation of pilots.
Separately, Starmer announced increased support for Ukraine within the Coalition of the Willing, which Britain has created with partners. This is about preparing for the possible deployment of international forces after peace is achieved.
This multinational force already has a 70-strong headquarters. The UK government has also allocated £200 million to train British troops.
“We will stand with them until there is a just and lasting peace – and even beyond that. Glory to Ukraine!” Starmer added.
The British government emphasized that the security of Great Britain begins in Ukraine, and support for Kyiv strengthens Europe’s defense capabilities.
It was previously reported that Denmark is allocating an additional 509 million euros for military assistance to Ukraine in 2026.
