ITSINTHENAME shaped with plenty of encouragement despite failing to justify strong market support in an all-weather bumper on his sole outing for Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies at Lingfield last month, and makes plenty of appeal now starting out over hurdles at an ordinary level for new trainer Nick Schofield. Roarin’ Success sets the standard on her second at Newcastle, while bumper-winner Crack Ops and Myrighthandman merit consideration, too.

WIND YOUR NECK IN was a three-time winner on the Flat for David Evans and, while he remains winless over hurdles for these connections, he can race off the same mark as when an excellent recent runner-up at Carlisle last week. This looks an ordinary event, so looks the way to go with a repeat of his front-running tactics likely to be seen to very good effect round here. In-form trio Merry Shuil, Secret Vino and Joto head up the dangers, in that order.

There has been sufficient promise in FORCETORECKONWITH’s recent efforts to suggest that she is capable of opening her account under Rules in a race of this nature, settling better than can often be the case over this course and distance last month. She may have most to fear from Dixie Cowboy, who didn’t jump well at Sedgefield last month but his start to life over fences has otherwise been positive. Bid Up and Zara’s Universe both have place possibilities.

MEDIEVAL GOLD won in good style on his final start for Micky Hammond and he shaped well on his debut for this yard on his return from nine weeks off recently. He was strong in the market on that occasion with a tongue strap fitted, beaten only by a couple of other last-time-out winners and, having joined a stable that do well with new recruits, he seems sure to go well again racing from he same mark. Bathgate, who is attempting to complete a course and distance hat-trick, is feared most, ahead of Into The Park.

None of these can be ruled out, but CHASINGOUTTHEBLUES rates the pick of the weights on the back of an excellent second at Doncaster last time. He was unlucky to bump into a very well-treated winner that day and, still finding his way over fences, he edges the vote to outpoint hat-trick seeking Paddy O’Mahler. Both Impatient and Not A Light arrive in top form too so seem sure to be on the premises in a fascinating handicap.

IT’S MAISY arrives in good form having hit the frame on her last two starts, unlucky to bump into a mare who put it all together from a dangerous mark at Carlisle last week. This race doesn’t look as strong and a similar performance should see her be very competitive once again racing from the same mark. January’s course and distance winner East Eagle is taken to reverse latest Sedgefield form with Dillarchie and give the selection most to think about.
