A 31-year-old man from Coventry has been jailed for sexually assaulting two women on board London-bound trains, following a British Transport Police (BTP) investigation that saw him arrested in Woking.
Esosa Eguakin, 31, pleaded guilty to two counts of Sexual Assault at an earlier hearing and was sentenced to two years prison on Tuesday, February 10 at Guildford Crown Court.
He also received a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), prohibiting him from sitting or standing next to or opposite any lone women.
Following the sentencing Eguakin’s behaviour has been labelled “predatory and deeply distressing” by a BTP Detective Constable who thanked the two female victims for their courage in supporting the investigation.
The court heard that on August 21, 2025, Eguakin was on board a service from Fratton, Portsmouth to London Waterloo on the early morning commute just after 7.15am.
The 31-year-old then intentionally sat behind a woman in her 30s and sexually assaulted her.
Then on October 6 shortly after 6am he was on board a service from Eastleigh to London Waterloo, where he sexually assaulted another woman.
When she confronted him, Eguakin claimed he was trying to retrieve his phone that he had dropped, also refusing to move away from her. An off-duty police officer then intervened to escort him off the train at Woking station.
The officer arrested Eguakin and kept him at the station until officers arrived and took him to custody.
A subsequent investigation into both offences led by BTP detectives resulted in Eguakin being charged with two counts of sexual assault.
Following the 31-year-old’s sentencing, BTP Detective Constable David Stewart said: “Eguakin’s behaviour was predatory and deeply distressing for both victims. No one should feel unsafe or be subjected to such violations as they travel.
“I want to thank the women involved for their courage in supporting our investigation, as well as the off‑duty officer whose swift actions prevented further harm. This sentence, along with the SHPO, sends a clear message that we will pursue offenders and ensure they are held to account.
