Police helicopter searches for ‘high risk’ missing person in Bristol

The National Police Air Service (NPAS) has confirmed why a helicopter was seen circling above Bristol.

Flight tracker ADSBexchange tracked the NPAS flight from Cardiff to the Temple Meads area of Bristol at around 9.45pm on Tuesday, February 25.

A spokesperson for NPAS told BristolLive the helicopter had been searching for a high-risk missing person.

The person in question has been found, an Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said.

The National Police Air Service said: “At 2054hrs on 24 February 2026, a police helicopter crew from St Athan were deployed to support Avon & Somerset Police in a search for a high-risk missing person in the Bristol area.

“Total flying time on the task was around 43 minutes.”
