‘Meatball Molly’ McCann’s next career move has been announced. The UFC star has been enjoying some time away from the sport after she announced her retirement from mixed martial arts in March. Molly was defeated by Brazilian fighter Alexia Thainara at UFC London.
The defeat marked a fourth loss in five fights for the Scouse fighter. She announced her decision in a post-match interview with TNT Sports.
Molly said at the time: “UFC and Dana [White], I started this sport at 24 and I have given you all my heart and soul. Tonight, with that performance on a week’s notice, it’s not good enough. The UFC deserves more.
“From a little girl from Norris Green fighting in arenas, look at me, look at what I’ve managed to do. Dana, if you ever need an ambassador to fly around Europe, I can chat anyone up.” The Evertonian ended the interview by saying “up the f****** Toffees”.
Before her retirement though, Molly had already begun exploring other interests. In June 2023, Molly launched Italian food venue Polpetta in the Baltic Market with her best friend Joel McCarthy.

It quickly became one of the venue’s most popular stalls. This was followed up in December 2024 by Moll & Joel’s Rolls in Garston, which is also Italian-inspired. The new venue had so much support from the community when it first opened it was forced to temporarily close to recover.
Now Molly and Joel have teamed up again in another food venture. Molly will be the director of The Macro Chef. The business says it specialises in making “nutritious, healthy meals at affordable prices”.
Its chefs, which includes Joel, prepare the meals which are then delivered across the north west to customers. Its food offerings include Mexican breakfast burritos, green Thai Chicken curries with greens beans and protein school cake. The Macro Chef’s kitchen is also in Garston but delivers meals across the north west.
On its Instagram page yesterday, The Macro Chef announced Molly would be taking on a formal role in the business after years of using the service herself while she was a fighter.
The Macro Chef shared a picture of Joel and Molly outside its Garston kitchen and said: “Say hello to our new team member @meatballmolly.
“Molly is coming on board at The Macro Chef as a director. Given Molly’s professional background and experience, this is a no brainer for us and will undoubtedly take The Macro Chef to new levels. We’ve got some really exciting changes coming, stay tuned this week to find out more.”
The post received thousands of likes and many left supportive comments to Molly, who celebrated her 35th birthday on Sunday (May 4) .
One said: “What a team.” Another said: “Congratulations, exciting times ahead.” A third person added: “Another string to the bow! Happy birthday and congratulations on your new venture.”
