A restaurant an hour from Bristol has been named as one of the world’s best. Osip in Bruton, has earned a spot on Conde Nast Traveller’s prestigious list of the world’s top 50 restaurants.
The publication praised chef-patron Merlin Labron-Johnson’s establishment as “starry, sustainable dining at its very finest”.
Featured in the 2025 Hot List, Osip is recognised among the year’s most exciting new culinary spots, with competitors ranging from Paris to Sydney.
Osip finds itself in the company of chic Parisian bistro 19 Saint Roch, New Orleans’ Mexican hotspot Acamaya, and Sydney’s ‘scale to tail’ restaurant Saint Peter at the Grand National.
Conde Nast Traveller lauded Osip, stating: “Rarely has a rural English village seen such footfall from world-class foodies.

But Osip, set among the rolling hills of Somerset, has been pulling in crowds from around the world, all of whom champ at the bit to taste the plant-heavy delights of chef-patron Merlin Labron-Johnson.”
The article also highlights Osip’s move to a “bigger and better” venue, creating a stir amongst the gastronomic community as “Osip 2.0”, reports Somerset Live.
Further details reveal: “The understated but sensational farmhouse-inspired interiors provide the perfect backdrop for Labron-Johnson’s tasting menu, which seldom features meat and seafood – appearing only occasionally for a single course or as an accent rather than the main attraction.
“The majority of ingredients are sourced from his nearby farm; trout is obtained from a local organic source, and Labron-Johnson has even begun producing his own cider.”
The article also touched on the imminent opening of rooms at Osip, and the venue’s unique offering of non-alcoholic pairings, crafted from food waste and home-grown herbs.
