Scottish Fire and Rescue (SFRS) raced to the scene of a rubbish fire near Haymarket at lunchtime on Tuesday, May 6.

At around 12.42pm, a SFRS crew responded to reports of a large amount of rubbish that was on fire on Grosvener Street in the West End area of the city.

Smoke could be seen engulfing the street while firefighters extinguished the fire and the construction crew working on the street looked on.

A spokesperson for the SFRS said: “We were alerted at 12.42pm on Tuesday, 6 May, to reports of a large quantity of rubbish alight on Grosvenor Street in Edinburgh.

“Operations Control mobilised one fire appliance to the scene, and the fire was extinguished.

“There were no casualties, and the crew left the scene after ensuring the area was safe.”
