A school issued an apology to parents and carers as it announced it was closed this morning (Monday, March 2). A message posted on the website of Northway Community Primary School on Dodds Lane in Maghull confirmed the closure.
The school says it had no choice but to shut because the fire alarm was not working. It said: “SCHOOL IS CLOSED TODAY – The fire alarm is not working in school and we cannot legally open due to the potential risks without a functioning fire alarm.
“We are so sorry for the short notice but have only just been informed by Sefton Security as it went off this morning and will not reset.
“We will keep you informed as the day progresses. Apologies for the inconvenience this will cause.”
