Three years after their World Baseball Classic bow, Great Britain are back in the sport’s premier international showcase.
A shock defeat of Colombia during the 2023 group stage helped earn Team GB a trip back to this year’s WBC, where what should be an improved squad will hope for even better results.
British hopes will rest on the team’s leaders, most notably New York Yankees star Jazz Chisholm Jr., who leads a strong Bahamian contingent, and Washington Nationals prospect Harry Ford, a breakout starlet in 2023 with a .308 batting average and two of Team GB’s three home runs.
New manager Brad Marcelino, who was on the GB coaching staff last time, can also call on veterans like outfielder Trayce Thompson and pitcher Vance Worley as he tries to navigate a difficult Pool B fronted by the USA and Mexico.
