SIMON Stead hailed his Sheffield side after they dominated defending league champions Belle Vue on home shale as part of their May Day Bank Holiday double.
The Tru7 Group Tigers cruised to a 57-33 victory at Owlerton – their third straight home outing that has finished with that scoreline.
Sheffield scored seven 5-1 maximums and recorded just three last places against the Aces as they again demonstrated their credentials in the Steel City.
It saw them easily claim the aggregate point 101-79 as well after they narrowly missed out in a last heat decider 46-44 earlier that same afternoon in Manchester.
“We’re the much happier team after the 30 races and I’m proud of the lads and really pleased for the supporters,” Stead said.
“Of course we were disappointed that we couldn’t hang on at their place, especially after we’d got off to such a strong start and got ourselves in a pretty good position.
“But I think when you look at it overall, to only lose by two points at Belle Vue was a good effort from the lads and don’t forget, we forced them into a tactical as well.
“It left us coming back to Sheffield with a lot of belief and we just carried on where we left off and just did what we have been doing at home since the season started.
“From start to finish the lads were superb, we dominated the champions from the get-go and we put another big win on the board.
“We’re still working our way into the season and there’s still a few little things here and there the lads want to tweak, but it’s been a great start and they deserve a lot of credit for what they’ve done so far as a group.”
The Tru7 Group Tigers are back in action next Thursday (May 15, 7.30pm) when they host league leaders Ipswich at Owlerton.
