A car was smashed through a fence and into a tree outside a block of flats in south Manchester on Tuesday evening (May 6) and began smoking before emergency crews raced to the scene.
Police and fire crews attended the incident on Slade Lane in Levenshulme at around 7.45pm to reports of a one-vehicle collision.
The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called to the scene after reports of a car hitting a tree and that police are now investigating.

It’s understood the occupants fled the scene following the smash and that no injuries were reported.
Pictures from the scene showed how the silver Toyota Yaris had crashed before becoming wedged in between two trees.
The vehicle then began smoking and was left badly crushed before emergency crews raced to the scene.

Witnesses on social media claimed they saw a number of men who ‘got out of the car and ran’. Greater Manchester Police has been approached for details.
“I thought I heard something. I hope there were no pedestrians about,” another person said. “What is it going to take for the police and politicians to take speeding traffic seriously on Slade Lane?”
Another commented: “I heard it from inside my house on Park Ave” as a third said: “Could have ended so much worse.”
A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At around 7.45pm on Tuesday 6 May, fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Slade Lane, Levenshulme.
“One fire engine from Withington station quickly attended the incident, which involved a car colliding with a tree. Firefighters helped make the area safe before handing the scene over to Greater Manchester Police.
“Fire crews were in attendance for about half an hour.”
