A person has been hit by a train as a busy railway line is closed amid an investigation. Emergency crews rushed to a stretch of track this evening between Perth and Gleneagles.
A section has been closed between the B934 and B935 near Forteviot, Perth and Kinross.
An update from ScotRail read: “Unfortunately we have had reports of a person being struck by a train between Perth and Gleneagles. We are closely working with emergency services during this time and will keep you updated.”
Disruption is expected for the rest of today as train services between Stirling and Perth are suspended. Disruption is also expected between Glasgow and Aberdeen as well as Dundee and Inverness.
Services are operating as normal between Perth and Edinburgh via Ladybank, with trains via Edinburgh and Inverness running via Fife.

CityLink buses between Perth and Glasgow will accept rail tickets. Emergency crews are still at the scene and local road closures are in place.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Road closures are in place on the B934 from Dunning to Forteviot Bridge and on the B934/B935 junction near Forteviot village following an incident on the railway line. Members of the public are asked to avoid the area at this time.”
The British Transport Police has been contacted for comment.
