An 18-year-old man was also charged in connection with an alleged attack on a vehicle in the Parrotshot area of Edinburgh on March 2.

Detectives say they are continuing to probe the alleged incidents.

Detective Superintendent Paul Grainger said: “I want to reassure the community that extensive enquiries are ongoing into this investigation and arrests will continue over the coming weeks.

“If you have any information that can assist our investigation, please get in touch.”

The blazes are believed to be linked with an ongoing explosive turf war, which is now gripping both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Gangland thugs have firebombed and shot at properties in two of Scotland‘s biggest cities as the violent underworld feud escalates.

Rival gangs are said to be targetting the jailed druglord Mark Richardson and his associates.

It’s claimed that the turf war erupted after a criminal crony used fake cash in a £500k drugs deal.

A Dubai-based Rangers ultra, known as ‘Miami’, is understood to be behind the ongoing chaos.

And sources say the fugitive mobster has told his hoods to back off.

Insiders claim he has been spooked by police raids amid pressure from Holyrood to halt the explosive gang war.

First Minister John Swinney last month admitted he was “deeply concerned” about the turf battle.

Mr Swinney said: “I’m deeply concerned by recent incidents in Edinburgh and I’m fully supportive of Police Scotland’s efforts to apprehend those responsible.”

He said “significant resource” is being put in to searching CCTV, door-to-door inquiries and increased patrols in the area.

We previously told how Richardson, 37, who was caged for his role in a £200m supergang, was reportedly targetted for a prison execution.

The cocaine con was moved from HMP Glenochil to Low Moss nick in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow, days before the gang war erupted.

And sources in Edinburgh later revealed a shocking plot to try to eliminate Richardson behind bars was hatched in the days leading up to his jail switch.

An insider said: “Richardson has no power left and he is in a very vulnerable position.

“Everyone in the prison is talking about it and saying his life is in danger.

“He is in isolation and protection for his own safety and he has refused to leave his cell to go into the main hall.

“The word is there is money being put up to do him.

“Some cons have tried to lure him out by pretending he’ll be okay but the minute he steps outside he’s a marked man.”

It’s understood Richardson is now under strict isolation in jail.
