Don Robertson has the unenviable task of officiating Celtic’s Scottish Cup quarter-final clash against Rangers on Sunday at Ibrox.

This is the second meeting between the two sides in a week, and this is also the second Glasgow derby Robertson will take charge of this season.

The 39-year-old was the man in the middle for Celtic’s drab goalless draw at Rangers in August when Brendan Rodgers and Russell Martin were in charge. Has anything happened since then?

But ahead of Martin O’Neill’s side’s second trip across the city, 67 Hail Hail takes a deep dive into Robertson’s officiating record in Celtic matches and the derby itself.

Don Robertson’s record as a referee in Celtic matches

To nobody’s surprise, the two games Robertson has taken charge of the most in his career are Rangers (59) and Celtic (50) matches.

This season, he has officiated a total of five Hoops matches, the last being Hearts’ 2-1 win at Parkhead when Wilfried Nancy was in charge.

Two other games have finished goalless, but there will certainly be a winner for this Rangers trip.

Celtic were awarded a penalty at Ibrox last time out, when John Beaton was told to go to VAR to check Dujon Sterling’s handball, and his on-field call was overturned.

Reo Hatate dispatched the spot-kick, and Celtic would secure a deserved point, and now it’s up to Robertson to take the reins.

You are hoping no major calls need to be made in the Scottish Cup meeting because it just allows the chance for people to moan.

Nonetheless, Robertson will be assisted by Ross Macleod and David Roome at Ibrox. And Andrew Dallas will take charge of VAR duties, assisted by Matthew MacDermid.
