An entire London Underground line will be shut this weekend, Transport for London (TfL) has warned. The Hammersmith & City line is not running across Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8 due to track work.
Parts of the Circle, District and Metropolitan lines will be shut for the same reason. Passengers are encouraged to use alternative Tube services and local bus routes.
The Northern and Victoria lines are expected to be busier than usual on both days amid Piccadilly line closures. This is part of the plans to upgrade the line with new trains, upgraded tracks and better CCTV cameras at platforms.
Elsewhere, sections of the DLR will also be closed as teams test out a batch of upgraded trains. Here’s what you need to know:
London UndergroundCircle line
- Saturday, March 7 – Sunday, March 8: No service between Hammersmith and Tower Hill, and between Edgware Road and High Street Kensington, due to track work.
District line
- Saturday, March 7 – Sunday, March 8: No service between between Edgware Road and High Street Kensington due to track work.
Hammersmith & City line
- Saturday, March 7 – Sunday, March 8: No service on entire line due to track work. Passengers are encouraged to use alternative Tube services or local bus routes.
Metropolitan line
- Saturday, March 7 – Sunday, March 8: No service between Baker Street and Aldgate due to track work
Piccadilly line
- Saturday, March 7 – Sunday, March 8: No service between Cockfosters and Uxbridge, including during Friday and Saturday Night Tube, due to ongoing line upgrades. Services will continue to run between Acton Town and Heathrow.
London OvergroundLiberty line
- Sunday, March 8: No service between Romford and Upminster due to Network Rail maintenance work.
Mildmay line
- Sunday, March 8: No service between Camden Road and Stratford due to Network Rail maintenance work.
Windrush line
- Saturday, March 7: No service between Sydenham and Crystal Palace due to Network Rail maintenance work. A special service will run between London Bridge and West Croydon every 30 minutes from 7am until 10pm. Otherwise, passengers are encouraged to use Southern Railway trains or local bus routes.
- Saturday, March 7 – Sunday, March 8: No service between between Highbury & Islington and New Cross Gate/Clapham Junction, including during Friday and Saturday Night Overground services, due to Network Rail maintenance work.
DLR, Elizabeth line & TramsDLR
- Saturday, March 7 – Sunday, March 8: No service between Stratford International and Woolwich Arsenal, and between Poplar and Beckton, due to the testing of new DLR trains. Rail replacement buses will run between Canary Wharf and Gallions Reach via Beckton, between Canning Town and King George V, and between Canning Town and London City Airport.
- Sunday, March 8: No service between Tower Gateway and Shadwell due to third party engineering works.
Elizabeth line
- Sunday, March 8: No service between Paddington and Ealing Broadway until 7.45am due to Network Rail maintenance work.
- Sunday, March 8: No service between Stratford and Shenfield due to Network Rail maintenance work.
Trams
- Saturday, March 7: No service between Wimbledon and Therapia Lane all day, and no service on the Tram network after 10pm. This is due to track work.
- Sunday, March 8: No service between Wimbledon and East Croydon, and between Arena and Elmers End. Replacement buses will run between Wimbledon and East Croydon.
Engineering work affecting Thameslink services
Planned engineering work is also affecting Thameslink services over the weekend. Trains are not stopping at Farringdon station on Saturday amid works on the London Underground.
On Sunday, trains are cancelled between St Pancras International and London Bridge due work being carried out by Network Rail. Passengers are encouraged to use Tube or Elizabeth line services.
