James Nelson-Joyce and his partner Olivia Frances Brown enjoyed time together in Liverpool city centre yesterday, Monday March 9. The couple visited The Daffodil, the former Mersey Ferry which is now berthed in Canning Dock as a floating bar and restaurant.

Liverpool entrepreneurs Philip Olivier, who is best known as ‘Tinhead’ on Brookside, and Joshua Boyd are behind the restoration of the famous vessel. A picture shared by the official Daffodil account yesterday showed the This City is Ours actor alongside his girlfriend and Philip.

It was captioned: “It was lovely to have James Nelson-Joyce and Olivia Frances Brown join us to soak up the sun on the main deck.

“We hope you’re all as excited for season 2 of This City is Ours as we are! Promenade Bar open every day, from midday until late.” Away from the screen, Olivia and James have been in a happy relationship for a number of years.

Olivia, who joined the cast of Coronation Street earlier this year, commented on the picture of the three with a red heart emoji.

Olivia made her soap debut during one of the most memorable episodes ever, as Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossed over for a one-off special.

James’ fiancée arrived on the cobbles as Jodie. At the time, James re-shared a post on Instagram to show his support for his partner, he added two love heart emojis alongside a picture of her in character on the soap.

The star has been sharing updates from set after having to keep her role a secret for months. Fans may recognise Olivia from her roles in TV series Boiling Point, as well as thriller The Gathering. She is also a jazz singer, often performing in and around the city.

It has been a busy start to 2026 for both James and Olivia. Filming for This City Is Ours has once again taken over Liverpool with the cast spotted in several locations across the city.

The crime drama series set and filmed in Liverpool first aired last year, featuring many popular locations from the city centre’s pubs to Sefton Park, Lark Lane and the docks.

In his interview with the ECHO in February last year, James admitted he was slightly nervous about how audiences would receive his performance as conflicted gangster Michael Kavanagh in This City Is Ours.

He said: “I’m a bit anxious about if the city is going to be, ‘Oh it’s another crime drama set in Liverpool.’ I understand, but it is more than that.”

He added: “You don’t realise what goes into a production. The houses we were filming in, we were renting them off people, so they were getting paid. It’s brilliant for the city and the economy.”
