A man has died following a blaze at a Glasgow flat. Emergency services rushed to the scene on Carnoustie Street, in Tradeston, around 7.20pm on Tuesday, March 10.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent six appliances to the incident yesterday evening, as roads around the area were locked down. An image from the scene shows a huge emergency response to the incident, with police and the Scottish Ambulance Service all in attendance.

The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, however, he died a short time later. Police say the death is being treated as “unexplained” and investigations are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.20pm on Tuesday, 10 March, 2026, we were called to a report of a fire at a flat on Carnoustie Street in Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

“A man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, however he died a short time later.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”

Area Commander Andy Kenna, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s local senior officer for the City of Glasgow, said: “At 6.36pm on Tuesday, 10 March, we were mobilised to a fire on Carnoustie Street, Glasgow.

“Six appliances were at the scene, and firefighters worked to extinguish a fire affecting a flat in a six-storey building.

“One adult male has sadly passed away. Our thoughts are very much with their family, friends and the wider community at this difficult time.

“A joint investigation alongside Police Scotland is now ongoing.”
