Result:

1st Daiquiri Bay 11/4

2nd Mister Winston 15/2

3rd Criminal 11/1

Parade ring updates

Verdict: With Marnier just getting a bit keen I’ll take Sea Suite as the pick. Criminal could also be suited by this tight test and is worth a look at a price

Daiquiri Bay – first in, looks fit for reappearance, has had a bit of a look round but fine. Well-muscled up and has the look of stayer

Glazia – smaller, still filling out, needs a bit more time on looksSsea Suite – a really good-looking invidiual, good core to him, has substance, and is fit. Lot to like

Aphrodites Rock – fine but a little light at the back

Sea Suite – a really good-looking invidiual, good core to him, has substance, and is fit. Lot to like

Marnier – tall, well-built, leggy; fit and good coat, plenty to like about him, will stay this trip and more on looks. Now colty, second handler called for. Was fine until saddled up.

Mister Winston – another big unit, another future stayer on looks, one for the future

Criminal – has a bit of quality about him too, not the biggest but beautifully put together, another that’s a positive

Little Saver – fine some scope for better but others appeal more today

Betty Bassett – smaller and not as developed as a few, needs time

Result:

1st Hammer The Hammer 9/2

2nd Diligently 10/1

3rd Cyclonite 14/1

Parade ring updates:

Verdict: Looks open. Hard to find a fault with Bob Mali, has to be the pick here. Belgrave second best.

Belgrave – first in, and he looks to have come on plenty for his Newmarket run, very fit and well

The Flying Seagull – next, he’s fine but others make more appeal on looks

Bob Mali – red hood but fine and looks tuned to the minute here, bang fit and coat in excellent condition

Cyclonite – in next, perfectly fit and well but not really striding out as you’d like at the moment

Megaphone – fit and fine but others preferred overall

Cressida Wildes – perhaps lacks class of a few but she’s walking around with a purpose to her and looks very well in herself

Diligently – okay but unlike the earlier Clive Cox runner he will definitely come on for this

Force And Valour – another that looks very fit here, he’s a bit quiet at the moment but that’s a minor niggle.

Cabelleroso – good coat but needs the run after short break

Hammer The Hammer – clearly very fit, he had a little moment coming out of the pre-parade and is a little keen, but no concerns at present

End Of Story – another that’s ready for today, throwing head about but nicely keen

15.05 Boodles Chester Vase StakesWinning connections reaction:

Ryan Moore – “He came forward today and was suited by the mile-and-a-half. It’s the first time I’ve ridden him a race and he’s still learning a little about the job but is a relaxed horse who stays well and finds plenty off the bridle.”

Result:

1st Lambourn 11/8 fav

2nd Lazy Griff 25/1

3rd Convergent 9/2

Parade ring updates

Verdict: Convergent is the pick on looks

Faire La Nouba – first in and on toes, she’s quite small and makes little appeal

Convergent – in next, rangy sort that’s fit over hind quarters, likeable and will keep moving forward

Lambourn – warm and two handlers, not unfit but again, like the previous O’Brien runner, will come on a touch

Furthur – good size, fit and good coat, no issues

Square D’alboni – a little keen and has had a shout but no faults fitness-wise

Pinhole – a big unit and may need this, good one to follow going forward

Thrice – likewise will just come on a bit for this, lacks a bit of size too

Lazy Griff – also in need of the run today

14.35 Weatherbys ePassport Cheshire OaksWinning connections reaction:

Ryan Moore: “I was very impressed with everything she’s done there. It was her first run of the year and he only had the two runs late on last year. She was drawn wide, showed good speed to get a position and relaxed.

“She did everything nice and smoothly, was a bit green at first and I probably got there a bit too early but she showed a very good attitude in the straight. She’s an uncomplicated filly with plenty of ability.”

1st Minnie Hauk 13/8 fav

2nd Secret Of Love 7/1

Parade ring updates

Verdict: Going with Secret Of Love as the pick but a few of these look well. Minnie Hauk will definitely come on plenty for this today.

That’s Amore – OK, touch warm, others make more appeal

Caspi Star – A good type and plodding around like an old hand, fit

Modern Utopia – Very fit and always presents well, no issues

Minnie Hauk – In next and there’s no doubt she’s going to tighten up plenty for this. By no means fully fit here.

Queen Of Thieves – Pretty compact type, she’s fine but that lack of size telling against a few of these

Secret Of Love – She’s very fit for her reappearance. Rangy sort, red hood but well behaved.

Kate O’Riley – First in, good sized filly, looks a stayer, red hood and two handlers but good as gold, fit.

Winning trainer reaction:

Clive Cox: “He has so much speed. He got a length out of them at the stalls even though he was on the inside. We’re excited about him and he’s the sort of horse who hopefully will continue to progress. Rossa said coming in he’s the sort of horse we could be thinking about the Holyrood at Royal Ascot with.”

RUBY’S PROFIT – settling better now.

KINETIC FORCE – a more compact sprint type, looks fine, no issues.

SERAPHIM ANGEL – very fit for this, nicely keen as well, makes appeal.

RUBY’S PROFIT – on her toes now, wasn’t earlier, two handlers but fit. Needs to settle.

MISSION COMMAND – Good sort and is pretty straight for his reappearance, looks well and good coat to boot.

Pre-parade updates

AL HUSSAR – first in and whilst not unfit, will clearly benefit from the run.

FUJI MOUNTAIN – looks okay, will still tighten up again for this.

BLINKY – fit and well, coat maybe not so good as a couple, but that’s nitpicking. He’s fine

Result

1 – ALI SHUFFLE 5/6 favourite

2 – Exclamation 14/1

3 – Italica 40/1

4 – Ardisia 8/1

Parade ring updates

VERDICT: No absolute standout here, like ITALICA as a project, but ARDISIA makes plenty of appeal for today.

EXCLAMATION – not settling that well, still whinnying.

ALI SHUFFLE – two handlers now, little on toes but still no concerns as yet. Handlers have a real tight hold.

SOCIAL EXCLUSION – Nice enough, still plenty of filly out to do, she’s okay.

Pre-parade updates

ITALICA – Getting on toes and trying to rear, very green.

EXCLAMATION – also whinnying now too.

ITALICA – some signs of greeness, having a growl.

EXCLAMATION – Lengthy, little nervy in red hood but no concerns at this stage. Definite scope for better once upped in trip.

ALI SHUFFLE – Very much one for now. Proper sprint 2yo, maybe lacks the scope of a few of these but this test looks ideal.

TAMATHER – Red hood on, is a little tense. Good size, well-muscled hind quarters already, likeable

ARDISIA – still displaying the odd bit of greenness, has stopped for a look round and a bit of a growl a couple of times.

All behaving fine so far though. Awaiting others to appear…

ARDUIS INVICTA – More compact type, she’s more for now than a few of these. Looks well.

ITALICA – Has a bit more size to him than the other pair seen so far and looks more a longer-term project. Nice sort, will keep progressing

MISS PIGGLE – Has come on a touch for Southwell win. Not as muscly as Ardisia but she’s nice enough.

ARDISIA – First in. Red hood but perfectly settled. Racey type, with some size, looks fit after the two runs.
