Three men were arrested near Bristol Aquarium earlier this week after an assault which left two people needing hospital treatment.

Police were called to Anchor Road in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday, May 5, at around 2.40am, where it was reported that a confrontation had taken place involving a number of men.

Two victims have since been identified, who reported they had been punched and kicked – with one requiring surgery for significant facial injuries.

Avon and Somerset Police said: “CCTV enquiries were carried out while officers were dispatched to the scene, and this enabled us to detain three individuals at the scene.

“A 22-year-old man was questioned after being arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm. He has since been released on unconditional bail. The two other men arrested have been released with no further action planned.

“Officers identified two victims, who said they had been punched and kicked. Both men required hospital treatment. One has since been discharged, but the other has required surgery after sustaining significant facial injuries.

“Enquiries, including further studying of CCTV footage, are ongoing to identify other individuals involved.”
