Traffic was backed up for around four miles after a multi-vehicle collision on the southbound M6 on Wednesday evening.
At around 6.30pm, National Highways reported two out of four lanes on the motorway had been closed between Junction 7 (Great Barr) and Juction 6 (A38M).
According to the organisation, police were on scene and recovery was being arranged.
A spokesperson for National Highways West Midlands said: “Two (of) four lanes are closed on the M6 southbound between J7 Great Barr and J6 A38M due to a multi vehicle collision.
“Police are on scene. Recovery is being arranged. There are currently delays of 30 mins and approximately four miles of congestion on approach.”
