Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi may have just subtly confirmed they already moved homes! On May 4, DeGeneres shared a video that Rossi took of her latest UK escapade. She shared the video with the caption reading, “Portia thought it would be fun to film my first time on the mower. She was right.”
In the comedic video, where we see DeGeneres’ dark hair transformation in full view, we see DeGeneres mowing the lawn of their huge estate before having to break down and have someone hand-push the mower back.
While this may seem like a typical “in-the-life-of” type of post, it may confirm a major rumor about them: how they upgraded from their dream UK cottage to a UK mansion.
In case you missed it, insiders and experts alike alleged to DailyMail earlier this week that DeGeneres and Rossi left their $15 million dream home in the Cotswolds, and bought a luxury mansion about 30 minutes away.
As fans know, ever since they moved to the UK, there have been issues with the Cotswald property. While the flood rumors were disproven, the risk of a flood was still there. Along with that, they allegedly found themselves in rough waters with their neighbors. Their UK neighbors spoke with DailyMail that pair is “in peril of getting on the wrong side” of a high-profile member of her new neighborhood. Allegedly, DeGeneres and Rossi “committed a ‘technical breach’” when they built an extension at their new abode in what the outlet described as a “planning clash.”

For those who don’t know, DeGeneres and Rossi met back in 2001 at a Rock the Vote concert. However, they didn’t get together until 2004. When they reconnected in 2004, DeGeneres was with photographer Alexandra Hedison, and Rossi was with singer Francesca Gregorini. However, after they split with their respective partners, they started dating.
They got engaged, and later married in Aug 2008, at their former home in Beverly Hills, Calif; and have been together ever since.
After Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, DeGeneres and Rossi left all of their California properties behind to move to the UK. There has been considerable speculation about the reasons behind their decision: political motivations, avoidance of high taxes in California, and other factors.
