Edinburgh residents are in for a searing spate of weather this coming week as temperatures climb, reaching Mediterranean temperatures.

The capital has seen increasingly pleasant temperatures as the days lengthen and the Met Office forecast predicts another scorching few days for the capital.

Beginning on Friday, May 9, locals can expect a balmy start to what will be a delightfully sun-filled weekend.

Friday will see a peak of 19C at 4pm as temperatures rise throughout the afternoon.

The following days bring even more sun and heat. Saturday, May 10 is forecast to reach a high of 20C, matching peak temperatures this week in Rome.

Edinburgh locals can expect to wake up to pleasant 16C weather by 10am which will rise to 19C by 1pm.

Sunday, May 11 rounds out the weekend with sustained sunshine and another high of 20C.

Sunbathers can enjoy warm weather as early as 10am with 17C temperatures, which will rise steadily as the day wears on.

Temperatures begin to decrease after this coming weekend, but will remain balmy in the following days. Monday, May 12 peaks at 18C while Tuesday and Wednesday see highs of 17C.

These temperatures come after last week’s ‘mini heatwave‘ which brought weekend temperatures reaching highs of 19C.
