An iconic street performer who once brought Liverpool city centre to life with Elvis Presley hits has said he has no plans to return after moving away two years ago. Jordan Devine, better known as Jelvis Pelvis, was one of the city’s most popular buskers, regularly drawing crowds of up to 100 people while channeling the “King of Rock and Roll”.
Jordan first made a name for himself on The X Factor in 2016, performing Candy by Robbie Williams. However, it wasn’t until 2022, when he began performing as an Elvis tribute act, that he built a strong online presence, now boasting more than 50,000 followers on TikTok.
The 29-year-old began his journey busking on the streets of Belfast, but after visiting Liverpool just once in 2023, he decided to relocate. While in the city, one of his performances outside Primark went viral, racking up 1.4m views in just 10 days.
Although Jordan felt like a permanent fixture, typically located somewhere along Lord Street, he left Liverpool after only nine months due to problems with accommodation. Looking back on his time in the city, he told the ECHO: “The crowds loved me.

“I was packing out crowds around McDonald’s and Primark and I was doing well on Tiktok Live. A lot of people from Liverpool got to know me. In Belfast, most people knew me, but in Liverpool there were people coming from all over England [to see me]. It was a lot crazier. The crowds were mad.”
Jordan’s set up included speakers, a microphone and a billboard of himself. A tripod with Tiktok live streaming of his performances would broadcast to viewers around the world, often times lasting for up to three hours before calling it a day.
Jordan admitted he misses performing in the city but sadly has no plans to return. He added: “No. Maybe just for a visit but not to live. I enjoyed the people and I went out a lot. I’ve settled in Belfast now.”
Jordan’s fondest memories were weekends when crowds gathered around to spur on his performances. He said: “Any Saturday was so busy. I had such a big crowd around me. There’s not one day in particular that stands out to me because I had a lot of great times in Liverpool.

“There was no nervousness at all. I just went over and did it. It was all new to me, how people were going to react, but they really loved me so it was worth it.”
Channelling the “King” is an exhausting task, with Jordan admitting it takes it out of him after a long day. Dreaming of an even bigger stage, Jordan once hoped to represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest, but his dreams were dashed after the nation pulled out of this year’s running.
However, music isn’t the only avenue the performer is hoping to travel down. He said: “I’ve got a big interest in acting lately. I’m getting a bit of training in that. I want to be an actor. I’ve been putting up a lot of content so hopefully I get somewhere with that.”
Although Jordan has no plans to return to Liverpool, he wants the city to know how much of an impact it left on him. He said: “I just really appreciate the support I got. I was on my own most of the time, and didn’t know many people, and Liverpool was very good to me. Thank you to everybody there.”
