It’s nearly time to celebrate Eid al-Fitr as the month of Ramadan fasting draws to an end.
Just like the start of Ramadan, the date of Eid varies depending on moon sightings but this year it is likely to fall on either Thursday, March 19, or Friday, March 20.
A big celebration is being planned at Star City in Nechells to mark the occasion.

The Star City Eid Family Fun Weekend features free crafting sessions, face painting, henna and surprise mascot appearances.
Families are invited to attend the main event from Friday March 20 to Sunday March 22 although some of the activities are starting from Wednesday March 18.
A spokesman for Star City said: “Celebrate Eid with us at Star City – a special time to come together with family, friends and loved ones.
“Join us for a week filled with creativity, colour and community spirit this March!”
What to expect at Star City’s Eid Weekend event
Eid Henna at Shobha’s
Celebrate Eid in style with henna designs at Shobha’s Indian Street Food restaurant on Wednesday March 18 and Thursday March 19 March from 2pm-10pm.
Prices start from just £10, and 10% of all proceeds will be donated to charity. And while you wait, you can enjoy 20% off all food!
Free crafting sessions
Little ones (and grown-ups too!) can enjoy free drop-in craft sessions, where you’ll decorate your own photo frame, perfect for displaying your Eid memories.
It’s taking place from 2pm to 7pm over the weekend from Friday March 20 to Sunday March 22.
Face painting
Add a splash of colour to your celebrations with face painting at Star City from 3pm to 7pm over the weekend.
The face painting will be raising funds for The Edward’s Trust, with a minimum donation of £3 per person. Every contribution helps support local families in need.
Surprise Mascot Appearances
Keep an eye out for our surprise mascot characters as they roam the mall, taking selfies and spreading smiles on March 20 and 21 from 2.30pm to 8pm.

Eid al-Fitr 2026 celebrations in Birmingham
Known as the ‘festival of breaking the fast’, Eid al-Fitr is the first Eid occasion in the yearly calendar and it signals the start of Shawwal, the 10th month following Ramadan.
