NEW LONDON, Conn. (WFSB) – A New London man is facing charges after police say he carjacked a vehicle at a Broad Street gas station in January and forced a passenger out at gunpoint.
Officers responded to the Gulf Station Convenience Store at 290 Broad Street just before 1:40 a.m. on Jan. 23, 2026, after a vehicle was reported stolen.
The owner had left the car running while stepping inside the store, leaving a friend in the passenger seat, according to police.
Surveillance footage showed a masked suspect climb out of a second vehicle that pulled into the lot, then drive off in the unattended car.
The passenger was ordered out of the stolen car at gunpoint a short distance away, police said.
Detectives reviewed video from the scene and nearby areas, eventually identifying a suspect based on clothing worn during the incident.
Immanuell Thomas-Brown, 21, was taken into custody on March 17, 2026. He faces charges of robbery in the first degree, larceny of a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
