The body of a man has been recovered from the River Clyde in Glasgow. Emergency services attended the Clyde Street area after being alerted to a report of concern for a person at around 6.45am on Wednesday March 18.
Pictures from the scene showed a large area at the Broomielaw taped off. Uniformed officers could be seen standing guard beside the cordon, with a sign warning members of the public that divers were in the water.
Six police vehicles were visibly parked nearby as members of the public gathered on a footbridge, reports the Daily Record.
Sadly, police have now confirmed that the body of a man was recovered from the river.
The death is being treated as unexplained but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.45am on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, we received a report of concern for a person near Clyde Street in Glasgow.
“Emergency services attended and a search was carried out. The body of a man was later recovered from the River Clyde.
“The death is being treated as unexplained but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
