The area around Crosby marine lake comes to life in the summer months

Summer days are set to return to Crosby as two beachside businesses confirm their plans. The Bus Yard and The Lake House, both located on the shoreline near to Crosby Marine Lake, are preparing for their busiest months.
Complete with a cornered-off seating area with beach huts, The Bus Yard has become a popular spot in the warmer months for people to stop for a drink or or bite to eat, while taking in the incredible views of Crosby’s coastline. The pop-up venue is set to return on Friday, March 27 after closing for winter in September.
Despite being open all year round, The Lake House is also preparing for the summer season. The venue will soon switch its Sunday roasts to a spring/summer offering after Easter weekend, while last night (March 20) brought the return of its Sunset Sessions.
From 6pm until 9pm on Fridays, the venue hosts a different DJ every week with “cool Balearic” music and a “chilled” vibe. The Lake House is also looking ahead to its own event calendar, aswell as events at Crosby Marina including the British Jetsport Championships in May.
The Lake House’s Business development manager Natalie Nixon told the ECHO: “The heights of summer, there’s a lot of people down here with The Bus Yard being here. Lots of people say to us, ‘it’s like the Costa Del Crosby,’ you know when it’s hot?

“It’s more of a day out now with The Bus Yard, people might come here first and then walk over there or vice versa. There’s a little bit more in the area that’s happening. But height of summer, every single table’s taken, every single space on the decking is taken. We’re full inside as well.
“We’re all summer vibes, we all know what we’re like in those busy times, people drinking cocktails, aperols, it’s a really nice area to come and enjoy an afternoon or a late evening.”
Over the way, The Bus Yard will soon be back for summer 2026 as final preparations . Owner of The Bus Yard, Andy Laird, told the ECHO: “I think year on year we just get better at it.

“I’ve seen a local councillor did a post, but seeing that they put a post saying ‘it’s the modern day spring/summer when you see The Bus Yard advertising they’re coming back’, which is nice to hear.
“It’s great to be honest with you. We’re looking forward to sort of getting back into the swing of things.”
Visitors of The Bus Yard can expect a new pergola, as well as some new additions to its food menus. Andy added: “It’s become like a bit of a destination place because people travel.
“We’ve had stuff come out in other newspapers in Manchester and further afield because people do travel to come to the coastline.
“We embrace it to be honest. It feels like there’s a good little buzz around the area.”
