And now, more clear blue skies and glorious sunshine are on the horizon, with temperatures climbing day by day.
This is due to a high-pressure front which is becoming ‘stuck’ over the country.
And it means that it likely won’t be before the middle of the month that we see any sign of much-needed rainfall.
Weather maps have now revealed that temperatures will soar to a scorching 21C in some areas by Saturday.
Today, the mercury level is set to climb to around 17C along the Central Belt, but will hover around 12C in the northeast, 13C in the northwest and 15C in the south.
It will be a lot warmer as we head into the weekend with temperatures of 18C across the whole of Scotland tomorrow, apart from the Central Belt which will reach 19C.
By Saturday, Scots will be able to bask in highs of 21C in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The south will be almost as warm with highs of 19C while the north will be slightly chillier with temperatures hovering around 16C.
Sunday will follow in much the same fashion, ending the weekend on a bright, warm note.
Temperatures will drop slightly to around 17C across the whole country apart from the north, where it will fall to 15C.

But the rest of next week is expected to be warm as we head into the middle of the month.
The Met Office‘s weekend forecast reads: “Feeling warm in the sunny spells, but chilly at times around southern coasts with brisk winds. Chilly nights.
“Dry across the majority of the UK with clear or sunny spells for many areas as high pressure dominates the weather pattern across the UK.
“However, at the start of this period, thicker cloud is likely in the far north for a time with some patchy rain and drizzle in north and northwest Scotland.
“Similarly, over the first few days of this period, cloud will probably thicken in parts of the southwest with a few showers in places.
“There is a small chance some of these could be heavy or thunder.

“Winds will mostly be light with daytime temperatures likely to be slightly above normal for the time of year.
“Although there is a chance of some cold nights.”
