The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Scotland is organising the Peace Symposium 2026 on 28 March at the Edinburgh Academy Senior School on Henderson Row.
Muhammad Ahmad, a volunteer and member of the community said: “As someone who calls Scotland home, I believe we have both an opportunity and a responsibility to lead differently. Our communities are rich in diversity, and that diversity should be our strength not a source of division. The values I strive to uphold during Ramadan patience, humility, and compassion are the same values I believe can help bridge the gaps we see around us.
“This is why I feel particularly honoured, as a volunteer with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Scotland, to be part of organising the Peace Symposium.”
Ramadan concluded with a celebration of Eid ul-FItr on Friday. Muhammad said: “It is a time that unites families, neighbours, and communities in celebration. Yet this year, like many before it, Eid has arrived at a time when the world feels increasingly fractured. Conflicts persist, divisions deepen, and too often, misunderstanding replaces meaningful dialogue. For me, Ramadan is more than fasting from dawn to dusk it is a deeply personal journey of self-discipline, gratitude, and renewed responsibility toward others.
“In the quiet moments of fasting, one becomes more aware of the struggles faced by those less fortunate. It instils a sense of duty not just to feel empathy, but to act on it. Whether through small acts of kindness or community service, Ramadan reminds me that faith must translate into tangible benefit for society.
“I warmly invite everyone to join us on Saturday, 28 March 2026, at Edinburgh Academy Senior School. This is more than an event; it is an opportunity for all of us to come together, listen, learn, and contribute to a more peaceful and cohesive society.
“In a world that often highlights what divides us, I believe now more than ever that it is our shared humanity that must guide us forward.”
