The Kabul Tribune (KT) — An Afghan woman, Hosai Andar, has
been elected to the Frankfurt City Council in Germany, joining one of the
city’s key municipal decision-making bodies.

According to reports, Andar secured a seat on the council,
which plays a central role in shaping policies related to legislation,
infrastructure development, finance and social services in Frankfurt.

Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai congratulated her in a
message, describing the achievement as a result of her effort, perseverance and
merit.

In recent years, the presence of Afghans in European
countries has grown, particularly in social and political spheres. Afghan
women, in particular, have increasingly taken on more prominent roles in
decision-making structures in their host countries.

Previously, another German-Afghan woman, Mehria Ashofteh,
was elected to the Hamburg state parliament.

The Frankfurt City Council is considered one of the most
important governing bodies in the city, responsible for key decisions affecting
urban development and public services.
