A man was arrested after a police chase ended down a cul-de-sac in Birmingham.

The pursuit took place yesterday evening (March 21) in the Old Oscott area of Great Barr.

Footage showed police cars and flashing blue lights descend on Amblecote Avenue.

West Midlands Police said a vehicle which was on cloned plates was brought to a halt at around 10.30pm.

WMP had brought out the helicopter during the pursuit.

The driver, a man aged 49, was arrested and a machete was recovered from the vehicle.

WMP said he was arrested suspicion of burglary, possessing an offensive weapon and driving while disqualified.

The police chase began after officers acted on information following a burglary in Solihull last week.

A spokesperson for WMP said: “We arrested a man in his 40s after a car on cloned plates was stopped by officers in Old Oscott yesterday evening.

“Acting on information following a burglary at a premises in Solihull last week, and with support from the police helicopter, the vehicle was brought to a halt at around 10.30pm in Amblecote Avenue.

“The driver, aged 49, was detained and during searches a machete was recovered from the vehicle.

“The man, arrested on suspicion of burglary, possessing an offensive weapon and driving while disqualified remains in police custody for further questioning.”
