A taxi firm has been targeted in a fire attack in Muirhead, North Lanarkshire

Cops and a fire investigation squad were today guarding the scene of the property that has clear signs of fire damage.

Detectives were seen outside the unit that’s the latest in a long line of homes and businesses targeted over alleged connections to the notorious Daniel clan and Edinburgh crime boss Mark Richardson.

It comes amid a wave of arrests across the country in connection with a two-month long campaign of violence.

The feud is said by sources to be linked to a dodgy cocaine deal involving Richardson associates and a fugitive Scots hood based in Dubai.

A source familiar with the ongoing carnage said: “This shows there is no sign of this madness ending any time soon.

“It’s been going for months now and it looks like there is more to come.

“It’s relentless and the fear is someone is going to get seriously hurt before it’s over.”

Last week, we told how a van believed to be linked to the Daniel crime family had been torched in Glasgow.

The white Citreon Berlingo was destroyed outside properties in the Bardowie area of the city’s Possilpark.

The spot is understood to be close to the home of a Daniel family member.

Underworld sources claimed it’s the latest attack linked to a months-long turf war blighting communities in Scotland’s two biggest cities.

Cops probing the ongoing violence have made around 20 arrests linked to the carnage and have pledged to nick more.
