Updated May 8 with more details of the refurbished offering at Apple.
Apple has a routine: every September, when the new iPhones are released, the line-up changes. Last year’s regular iPhones stay, but the Pro models are retired, replaced by the newly released ones. But there’s a less well-known part of the routine which sees the Pro phones return to the Apple store much later on. And that’s what’s just happened.

On Tuesday, May 6, Apple brought the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max back at significantly reduced prices in its refurbished store. This store often has limited stocks, so things will change, but right now, all sizes and colors of both the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are available.
What’s new here is that until now, the U.S. stores haven’t had these refurbished models, although they reappeared in European Apple Stores at the beginning of 2025, and in the U.K. in April.

Buying refurbished is a good way to save money while being sure that the quality of the phone is strong, especially if you buy direct from Apple. You get the same warranty as with a brand-new iPhone, all manuals and accessories, a new battery and outer shell and “a new white box,” as Apple describes it. In other words, Apple’s refurbished phones are seen as excellent quality and strong value.
When the Apple 15 Pro with 128GB storage was first released in September 2023, it cost $999 — the same price you’ll currently pay for the iPhone 16 Pro.
Apple’s pricing system knocks $100 off this as though it were last year’s model in new condition (which isn’t available). It then cuts more off for refurbished condition, $140 in this case. Right now, the price of this phone in refurbished condition is $759, a total savings of $240.

This is the link to the refurbished page for iPhone 15 Pro at apple.com. All four colors (natural titanium, blue titanium, white titanium and black titanium) are available for this price right now.
Need more storage? The 256GB model, originally $1,099 on first release in new condition, is now $849. All four colors are available at this price right now.
The 512GB version, originally $1,299 when new, is here in all four colors refurbished for $1,019.
Finally, the top-tier storage of 1TB, $1,499 when first released, is $1,189 in refurbished state here (a $310 savings compared to its original new-condition pricing).
If you fancy something bigger, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is also available in refurbished condition for the first time in the U.S. Again, stocks look like they might be plentiful right now, judging from the fact that all storage levels and all colors are currently available. Expect this to change. Here’s the link for the iPhone 16 Pro Max items.
For now, the 256GB storage model (the lowest-capacity the Pro Max offers) is available in all four colors for $929. When new, this would have cost $1,199. Take off the $100 discount for it being last year’s model and a further $170 for being refurbished to get to this price.
The 512GB storage option, again onsite in all four colors right now, is $1,099. That’s $300 less than the $1,399 price you’d have paid new for this phone, a discount made up of $100 for being older and $200 for its refurbished condition.
Finally, the 1TB version, which would have set you back $1,599 when new, sees the $100 “older-phone” discount plus a $230 refurbished price drop to bring the total cost now down to $1,269.
