Former Premier League boss adopted a tactical gameplan for his meal out and asked owner for his recommendations

A Midland restaurant owner was ‘flabbergasted’ when an ex-Premier League manager dropped in.
Since opening on Bromsgrove High street in 2024, Viceroy has welcomed famous faces from BBC news presenter Joanne Malin to ex-footballer Aidy Boothroyd.
But on Monday, March 23, Viceroy co-owner Suhad Miah served two celebs – and was even left wondering if had fallen victim to ‘a lookalike’.

Boothroyd returned to the restaurant and brought along Sean Dyche, the ex-manager of Nottingham Forest, Everton and Watford.
Speaking to BirminghamLive, Miah said: “I was flabbergasted when I saw him, I thought he was a lookalike.

“He had his back to diners so people didn’t recognise him unless they went to the toilet.
“I served him and he was a lovely, down-to-earth guy. I addressed him as sir and he did the same back.”
Dyche began his life in coaching under Boothroyd, starting off as youth coach for Watford in 2007.
While he has no club at the moment, Dyche and his party tackled the menu with a tactical game plan.
Miah said: “He wanted recommendations for the meal, but definitely wanted the ‘Birmingham Balti’ (£10.50). There were five of them so they had a mixture of food.”
The group started with two mixed meat platters and onion bhajis to share before delving into mains .
After asking Dyche what type of flavour he wanted in his dishes, the manager selected spicy curries including garlic and ginger.
A chicken tikka balti, tandoori king prawn nagha, garlic chilli chicken, lamb railway and red fort murgh (spicy chicken) were the curries chosen after Suhad’s recommendation.
After the bill came to £166, Dyche shared post-meal analysis and said Viceroy ‘ticked all the boxes’.
He added: “Sean knows his food and he trusted us because of the recommendation from Aidy (Boothroyd). He’s a foodie, and after I had a picture with him, he went over and said he enjoyed his meal thoroughly.
“I’m a Manchester United fan so I’ve grown up watching teams he’s managed. We didn’t talk about football though, he just wanted to talk about food.
“We’re a relatively new business and moments like these help us. It’s spiked up our business and people are interested now celebrities are visiting our restaurant.
“Sean said we ticked all the boxes and said he would return the next time he’s back in Bromsgrove.”
