An Edinburgh angler has been included in Scotland’s under-16 sea fishing team for the Home Internationals from June 30 to July 3 in Kent, England. Scotland defend the title.

Eryk Janik, a schoolboy at Trinity Academy in Edinburgh, is joined by Caelan Anderson, who performed well in the recent Edinburgh New Year Angling League, and they are in the six-strong squad.

Nuno Santos, the team manager, also confirmed that Artis Koncevics, Franky Hamilton, Jai McKinney and Loui Wemyss are also included.

Trials were at Riverside Drive in Dundee and Cairnryan and Santos said that the rest of the team are from Angus, Dundee, Fife, Scottish Borders and North Ayrshire.

He added: “After an outstanding weekend of trials, with an incredibly high standard of angling throughout, the management ream had an extremely difficult task selecting the squad.

“Decisions were based on performances across the full trial series, and the margins between anglers were very small.”

Glasgow-based Santos said: “A huge well done to every young angler who took part, your effort, attitude and ability made the decision tougher than ever and you should all be proud of your performances.

“We are genuinely excited about the group selected. They’ve shown not only strong technical ability, but also great attitude, resilience, and teamwork across both trial venues. We believe they have a strong platform to perform well on the Home Nations stage.”
