Leeds United’s list of transfer targets grows longer by the day. But the latest name linked isn’t impressing too many supporters.

Leeds United look to have started work on their upcoming summer transfer window already, with a number of names being linked with summer moves to Elland Road.

And one such name is Beto. It’s been reported that Leeds United are interested in Everton striker Beto who only joined the club in 2023, with the Toffees paying £26million.

He’s since scored 10 goals in 57 Premier League appearances for the club including seven in 27 in this 2024/25 campaign.

Responding to the Beto rumours, one Leeds United fan posted: “If we are going to sign people of that ilk we will be down by November.”

There were plenty of similar comments, too. Fans posted: “We need better than Beto to stay up,” and also: “He doesn’t score enough, hardly the marquee signing to keep us up is he.”

Another Leeds United fan posted: “Jog on. We need a striker with a better goal contribution than that,” whilst this fan added: “Are we shopping in the corner shop? That’s not going to be good enough.”

“I hope we don’t sign him, his stats say it all, 30 odd mil and barely scored,” said this Leeds United supporter. “A definite no from me!”

Beto speaks out after Everton striker linked with Leeds United

Amid all the rumours, Beto has spoken out on his Everton future amid his links to Leeds United, admitting that he’s not always in top form but that he always gives his all.

Beto said: “I am fighting. I am fighting with myself to be more consistent – sometimes I do good games, sometimes I do bad, but I want to keep the trajectory going up, or at least stable at a good level.

“This is football, you know, it’s a hard game – but I’m happy. I’m happy to fight, to try to prove myself every day. I will never stop.”

With Everton moving into a new stadium and looking towards pastures new, they might be tempted to cash in on Beto whilst there’s interest.

But one club’s rubbish could be another’s treasure. In a team with better wide players and a more forward-thinking manager, Beto could really flourish.
