DESTINED for Home, a popular gift shop on Constitution Street in Leith is to close this weekend and the owner, Karen, says they will relocate to Gullane in East Lothian

Owner took to social media to announce the move, clarifying that the shop’s landlord is selling the building and converting them into flats.

She says she “totally agrees” with the decision and that Leith is “crying out” for more flats and expressed excitement at the move.

The 29th of March will be the shop’s final day in Leith and Karen has urged patrons to stop by one last time and pick up some of their favourite items while they can.

Destined for Home shops a range of cards, gifts, clothes, homeware, trinkets, and more.

In a video posted to social media, Karen said: “my lovely landlord has decided to sell the four units, two of which I have, and they’re going to be converted into residential use flats, which I totally agree with, because Leith does need flats residential.

“It’s crying out for places to stay.”

She clarified that the shop is relocating rather than closing and that they understand the landlord’s decision to sell.

“There’s just too many short term lets at the moment, and people struggle.

“So my news is that Harley and I will be relocating – we’re not closing down, we’re relocating.

“We had this sliding door moment, and the time is right. I’m not going to reach my 10th anniversary here in Leith, unfortunately, because our last day for you to shop in Destined for Home is the 29th of March.”

Destined for Home has been in business on Constitution Street for almost ten years now, and many locals expressed their dismay at the news on social media after the announcement from the store.

The shop confirmed that they will move to Gullane, East Lothian in April but have not responded to our enquiries for any further comment.
