Situated in the city’s Charing Cross, the independent shop has since built up an excellent reputation in the local area.
But after more than four decades in business, it is understood that owner Arvad Singh has decided it’s time to sell up and retire.
Locals have taken to Reddit to praise Mr Singh – hailing him a “true legend” and a “fixer extraordinaire”.
In a bid to find a way of thanking him for his service to the community, one Redditor wrote: “40 years serving his local community. Fixer extraordinaire and stalwart of St George’s Road. He’s selling up and retiring. Just thinking it’s sad if he just locks up one night and goes. What can we do to thank him? Any ideas?”

Another commented: “What a hero! This chap has helped me with loads of things over the years. True legend and always says hello. He and his business will be deeply missed. Enjoy your retirement Mr Singh, it is well earned”.
A third said: “Happy retirement Mr Singh. I will always remember you fondly. My washing machine salutes you also!”
The mid-terraced retail unit is located in a prime location in the city centre, on the ground floor of a stunning red sandstone tenement-style building.
A post shared on the shop’s Facebook page reads: “BUSINESS FOR SALE Long and Well Established Hardware Store Prime location of Charing Cross, Glasgow Excellent opportunity to buy the business on leasehold or property (Key Cutting, Window cleaning supplies, Domestic and Catering appliance repair specialist)”.
It is not clear when the shop is due to close for good.
But several listings for the unit have appeared and expired on real estate agents’ sites over the last few years.
Elsewhere, the ‘only pub’ on a picturesque high street has hit the market after more than two decades.
Situated on the Fife coast, the Crown Tavern in Kinghorn sits in an ideal location for passing trade.
