Two hundred people slept rough in Scotland’s biggest city in just a month as overall homelessness stats hit new record levels.
Glasgow City Council figures seen by the Sunday Mail found a record 9337 homeless people living in temporary digs as of last month.
That included a shocking 3367 children, another all-time high for the city which is buckling under a housing and homelessness emergency.
Between January 1 and February 12, a total of 203 people were reported sleeping on the streets.
Maeve McGoldrick of Crisis Scotland said the rough sleeping figures were “huge”. She said: “It’s absolutely an indictment of where we are just now.

“Scotland varies quite a lot when it comes to rough sleeping but it’s really prevalent at the moment in Glasgow and Edinburgh and to a degree, in places in Aberdeen.
“Glasgow is really imploding on itself when it comes to homelessness services.
“A lot of the particular rise in rough sleeping is related to Home Office decisions because Glasgow is a dispersal location for asylum seekers.
“We want to see the Home Office have much better housing, employment and integration support for people that have received a positive decision on their asylum claim.
“But instead what you see is the Home Office saying our job is done, you’re now out on the streets and it’s the council’s job to support you from there. It’s absurd and puts so much pressure on councils.”
The stats also show five people have died in temporary accommodation since the start of the year up to February 12.

Sean Clerkin of the Scottish Tenants Organisation, who unearthed the figures through freedom of information, said: ”Glasgow is suffering a housing catastrophe with all the metrics going the wrong way.
“We see highest numbers of homeless children being in temporary accommodation, record numbers of women being forced into hellhole mixed sex hotels, large numbers of people being forced to live on the streets and the highest monthly deaths in over a year.
“Glasgow should be treated as special case with much more funding being made available from the Scottish and British Governments to build good quality temporary accommodation for women and children and construct thousands of warm secure and dry social rented homes in the city for homeless families and those on social housing waiting lists. “Unless a housing revolution is undertaken in the city thousands of children will be condemned to years of sordid destitution and poverty resulting in worsening physical and mental ill health.”
