Police said the firearms discharged but ‘not directed towards an individual and no injuries were sustained’

A police officer discharged a firearm at a Welsh property on Saturday following reports of disorder. The incident took place at Bunkers Hill in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire.
A statement from Dyfed-Powys Police said the firearm was not directed toward a person.

A police presence remained at the scene on Sunday.
An senior officer has said a “prompt investigation” into the circumstances which led to the firearm being discharged has been initiated.
A police statement on Sunday read: “Dyfed-Powys Police is carrying out inquiries following the discharge of a firearm by a police officer in Milford Haven on Saturday evening.
“The force received a report of disorder at Bunkers Hill at 5.45pm where an individual was said to be in possession of a knife.
“Officers, including a firearms unit, were dispatched to the property.
“While at the scene an officer discharged a single shot from a firearm at 6.32pm.
“The firearm was not directed towards an individual and no injuries were sustained by anyone present.
“The force has voluntarily referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct who will determine if it should be investigated independently or referred back to the force.
“A police presence remains at Bunkers Hill today.”
Deputy chief constable Gary Phillips added: “We have initiated a prompt investigation into the circumstances that led to the firearms being discharged and have referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
“We will work with them as we continue to establish the circumstances leading up to the discharge.”
