Willie Peters will leave Hull KR at the end of the Super League season to take up a role in the NRL, it has been confirmed.
Peters is in his fourth season with the Robins, but this will be his last as he prepares to take charge of Papua New Guinea Chiefs, who are set to enter the NRL in 2028.
His decision brings about the end of an era at Craven Park, with Peters being the club’s most successful coach in the modern era by some distance. And, as KR bid to build some traction and form through the 2026 campaign, they currently hold all four trophies available to them.
Rovers have made a habit of reaching major finals under Peters and last season saw them record an historic treble, winning the Challenge Cup, the League Leaders’ Shield and the Grand Final. The World Club Challenge trophy is proudly on display at Craven Park too after beating Brisbane Broncos in last month.
It’s fair to say Peters has made his mark in east Hull then and supporters have taken the opportunity to pay tribute to the man who made their dreams come true.
Here’s just a few of the messages posted to Peters on social media.
Andy Sharpe: “Thank you Willie. I’ve made some great memories with my children thanks to the hard work and dedication you and your staff have given our club. All KR fans will wish you nothing but the best for the future. 🔴⚪️🔴⚪️🔴⚪️Once a Robin, always a Robin.”
