The vacant former Edinburgh Woollen Mill store in Ullapool could be set to reopen as another tweed store.

A planning application has been lodged for new signage on the front of the empty shop, with artwork showing it could reopen as “Isle of Tweed”.

Limited further information is included with the application, although the colour scheme, name and logo are identical to those adorning a store which sits on Edinburgh’s Princes Street – suggesting they are linked.

Under the new application, which has been lodged by the company Celtic Retail, the front of the vacant shop at 10 Shore Street would be transformed.

If approved, a projecting 3D wrap, coloured in racing green, would be erected on the front of the building and extending round onto part of its side.

New composite slim-framed double doors would be installed within the existing entrance opening, and windows will be replaced with a plain style in racing green. Parts of the wall below the 3D wrap would also be painted racing green.

The planning application will be decided at a future date.
