Jamie Laing has revealed how terrified he was as he waited for his son to be born. The former Made In Chelsea star, 37, explained the panic he felt after wife Sophie Habboo was rushed foran emergency C-section after their baby’s arm was through the cervix.
Explained the scary moment as “the scariest thing I’ve ever been through,” Jamie was grateful when his son Ziggy arrived safely last year. And Sophie admitted her fear too as her pregnancy was far from the way the pair had planned.
“From my point of view, it was the scariest thing I have ever been through in my entire life,” Jamie explained as he opened up on having to watch the ordeal from the sidelines.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: “Watching your wife go through that, the person you love, and this baby, and you have no control. It was the most terrifying thing ever. Nothing can prepare you for that.”
Jamie and Sophie are sharing their journey as first-time parents on a new three-part Disney+ documentary series titled Raising Chelsea. Sophie revealed she hadn’t intended on the intimate moment of child birth to be made public.
However, after the footage was shot by the couple’s anaesthetist and she was so moved by it she felt the need to share. She explained the expert had grabbed their phone to take images of the special moment and ended up filming it without their knowledge.
“The next day, I was looking at all the photos of the birth, and I was like, oh my God, there’s an 11-minute-long video. I pressed play, and it was so emotional,” Sophie told the publication.
Jamie called it the “most amazing, romantic” moment,” saying the fact the couple didn’t know it was being filmed made it even more special. And he also went on to reveal how the pair decided on their son’s unique name.
Jamie said: “Ziggy’s name is where we conceived him. We conceived him in a place called Zighy Bay. I was depleted of any energy, and Sophie thought this was my chance and so it happened, so it was either going to be that or Watford. Watford or Ziggy and we chose Ziggy.’
And Sophie jokingly agreed with Jamie’s recollection of the moment. She said: “Straight after Jamie’s ultramarathon – we went to Zighy Bay. I got him when he was vulnerable.”
Jamie completed a grueling 150-mile ultra-marathon challenge for Comic Relief in March 2025. He ran from London to Salford in five days. Each day saw the reality TV star cover over 50km (30+ miles). He incredibly raised over £2 million to support mental health, loneliness, and anxiety initiatives.
