Multiple cars were left badly damaged after a major crash on a main road in Oldham on Monday (March 30). Oldham Way was closed off following the incident near to the Tesco supermarket.

It was reported the pile-up occurred following a pursuit involving a police vehicle but this has not yet been confirmed by Greater Manchester Police.

Videos and pictures posted online and shared with the M.E.N. show multiple cars involved, with debris and car parts strewn over the carriageway. The northbound carriageway was closed for a number of hours late into Monday evening for investigations to take place.

One motorist, who was nearly caught up in the collision, claimed a car had been forced into the central reservation as another high-speed vehicle made its way along the bypass.

“It was a chase, my best friend was seconds away from it and it really shook her up,” another posted on social media. One video showed how a car had ploughed into the central reservation and was left with a crushed bumper.
