An Edinburgh antiques shop that has been serving customers for 25 years has closed down. Sea Kist, in South Queensferry, has appeared on BBC’s Antiques Road Trip a number of times.
Hollywood star Brooke Sheilds even popped in while she was filming a Netflix movie in the area. Owner, Jenni Meldrum, has sold the premises with contents set to be sold at auction in May.
Jenni said: “I’ve decided to retire. I’ve managed to quickly sell the shop premises. I’m not sure what kind of business will go into the unit, but wish the new occupants every success.
“I also want to thank all my brilliant customers who supported the shop over 25 years.”
The shop specialised in seaside-themed items, as well as vintage jewellery and books. Jenni stepped away from the business after a cycling accident a few years ago, and things weren’t quite the same.

She added: “My hours were a bit erratic and not regular. I eventually came to a decision to wind things up and retire. In any other job I would have been retired by now.”
The items from the shop will go under the hammer at the Three Bridges Auction House in Rosyth in May.
In September 2020, actress Brooke Shields popped in for a visit whilst filming a romantic comedy for Netflix at nearby Dalmeny House.
Jenni said: “Brooke’s a lovely lady with a great eye for antiques. She had a good look around the shop while we chatted. It was fantastic to see her in South Queensferry.”
