Bristol Live understands that talks between Bristol Rovers head coach Steve Evans and Chairman Hussain AlSaeed are progressing well, and will continue following the two games across the Easter weekend against Fleetwood Town and Harrogate Town.
Evans revealed at last week’s press conference that a meeting between himself and AlSaeed was set to take place in the “early part of next week”.
While the talks are at an early stage, the early conversations are understood to be positive.

We also understand there are still clubs from both the EFL and Scottish Premiership interested in the 63-year-old. However, he told the media last Thursday that the Chairman had said enough for him to “instruct the people that look after me to stop talking to three other clubs”.
Evans took charge of the Gas in mid-December, replacing Darrell Clarke, who had lost 10 consecutive matches in League Two, leaving Rovers in the relegation zone.

Since his appointment, Evans has taken 29 points from 20 league games to lift Rovers 14 points clear of the relegation zone.
After signing a deal until the end of the season, the head coach has inspired a huge turnaround in form, especially at The Mem. They have won six out of the last seven home games, and will be looking for their fifth consecutive victory in BS7 against Fleetwood on Friday.

His nine January signings have made a big impact, with Yusuf Akhamrich and Tommy Leigh scoring four goals each.
The likes of Kofi Balmer, Riley Harbottle, Richie Smallwood and Joe Quigley have also impressed, with 14 of the last 21 goals by Rovers scored by January additions.

The focus now shifts to the game against the Cod Army on Friday, and with safety nearly mathematically secured, speculation about the conclusion of Evans’ talks with AlSaeed will continue to mount.
