London-based indie four piece the Big Moon will support headliner Self Esteem on Friday, July 10, as part of Live at Museum Gardens.

They will be joined on the bill by the previously announced South African “future ghetto funk” pioneer Moonchild Sanelly and Nigeria-born now Sweden-based spoken word artist and musician Joshua Idehen.

The Big Moon play Museum Gardens after a career which has seen the group share stages and studios with artists from George Ezra to the Pixies.

Their latest album, 2022’s Here Is Everything, was recorded around and inspired by frontwoman Juliette Jackson’s pregnancy, with the band earning praise for the record’s raw emotion and honesty.

Self Esteem, meanwhile, released her third album, A Complicated Woman, last year, following the artist and actor, otherwise known as Rebecca Lucy Taylor’s, critically acclaimed and Mercury Award-nominated sophomore full-length, Prioritise Pleasure.

Rachel Hill, project manager at Leeds-based Futuresound Group, which has organised the festival with the York Museums Trust, said: “We’re so excited to be sharing the full line up for Self Esteem at Live at York Museum Gardens with The Big Moon completing a weekend of brilliant music.

“None of it would be possible without the continued collaboration, trust and support of the team at York Museums Trust; the opportunity to put together such an incredible bill for the summer makes us excited for the future of our partnership.”
