Merseyside Police officers will be patrolling the area until Friday

A stop-and-search order has been introduced in Netherton and Bootle after a teenager was stabbed. Merseyside Police said officers were called shortly before 9pm on Wednesday, April 1, following reports a gang had robbed a 14-year-old boy’s mobile phone on Stanley Road in Bootle.
During the incident, one of the suspects is alleged to have been armed with a knife. The victim sustained injuries consistent with a knife wound and was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Officers attended the scene and carried out stop-and-search activity in the area, resulting in the arrest of a teenager. A 15-year-old boy from Bootle has been arrested on suspicion of robbery, possession of a bladed article in a public place, and obstructing a police officer.
A Section 60 order has now been put in place, running from 4pm today until 3.59pm on Friday, April 3. Police said additional officers will be deployed across the area to provide a visible presence and help prevent further incidents of crime or serious violence.
The order covers a wide area, including Ormskirk Road, Park Lane, Bridle Road, Bailey Drive, Linacre Lane, Crosby Road South, Cambridge Road and Brook Vale. It also extends around the perimeter of Rimrose Valley Country Park down to Lydiate Lane, Northern Perimeter Road to Switch Island, and all roads within these boundaries.

Inspector Graeme Chalinor said: “This Section 60 Order is an added measure to provide us with the powers needed to stop and search people in the area.
“This enables officers to search people they suspect are carrying weapons, and provide reassurance to the community that they can feel safe in the knowledge we are proactively putting measures in place.
“Such violence and the use of any weapons is reckless and will not be tolerated in Merseyside.
“Extra officers will be in the area to search any individuals or groups causing such issues, and to provide reassurance to the vast majority of law-abiding people in the community.
“Such action isn’t about bothering anyone going about their daily business or preventing people from meeting with friends. It’s simply about taking action to reduce violence and make sure that everyone can feel safe where they live.
“Patrols have also been stepped up to reassure our residents so if you have any information on any offences in the area please speak with our officers.”
